Bowls Club

Formed in 1988, the Oyster Indoor Bowls Club is ideally situated in the picturesque harbour area of Whitstable town, with ample free parking for members. We offer excellent all year-round bowls facilities where our 8 rinks offer members the opportunity to play bowls regardless of age, ability or experience. The club runs sessions of formal and informal games, internal leagues and competitions, and matches against other clubs, from within Kent and occasionally further afield. We also encourage the younger generation to participate in bowls by running dedicated ‘Juniors Only’ sessions, coached by experienced DBS checked adults. We also have a qualified ‘safe guarding’ person at the club.

The success of any Club lies with its volunteer contingent who willingly give their time and experience for the benefit of others.  We run a thriving calendar of social events, either within the clubhouse (bingo, quizzes etc), or organise visits to popular tourist destinations around Kent & nearby counties, along with short-break bowls holidays.

Whatever your physique, bowls is a sport for everybody and it can help improve your fitness levels and mental well-being.  Members enjoy playing bowls and many recommend the sport to friends and family. Bowls offers a great opportunity to meet with friends, old & new, enjoy a relaxing ‘roll-up’, or just enjoy a chat with a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake in our licensed bar!

Our membership currently stands at just over 500 members, whose ages run from 8 to 100+, yet we have plenty of room to accommodate additional players, so if you wish to find out more, or even give this fascinating sport a try, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
