Last Saturday Oyster were involved in an extraordinary day – with our members playing in three different competitions.
In the morning our ladies and men played in two National competitions (The Yetton Trophy vs Ashford and The Denny Cup vs Thanet) concurrently, with both competitions playing with two rinks at home and two away. The men won comfortably on all four rinks (93-41), whilst the ladies were taken to a nail biting last end, winning two of their four rinks, and winning by just two shots (86-84), after nearly 4 hours of play.
Encouraged by the club’s earlier successes, in the afternoon it was the turn of our men to play a KITL match against Prince Arthur. In another closely fought match, both sides won 3 rinks each, with Oyster taking the game with an overall score of 114-73.
Our highest winning team were Malcolm Price, Dave Appleton and Captain Maurice O’Dell (26-4).
Special mention must be given to Sandie Bartlett who not only played all morning, helping her team win their rink, she then played as a last minute (permitted) substitute for the men’s team in the Invicta league, helping her triple to win as well. Well played that lady, and a big thank you to those who worked tirelessly in the background to help make this busy day the success it was.
