On Saturday 2 May, we opened the summer season with an internal game of 4321, to play the Hilary Avis Memorial match. Hilary was a much loved past President of Oyster, who sadly died in 2019.
42 players, played in 14 triples in a 4 game match for about 3 hours today. 16 ends in total was enough to find our winners, who played 4 other teams, drawn at random. Only one team won all four of their games, and this was “Team Echo” who were Rita Marsh, Lesley Westgarth and Gordon Hayes. Four teams managed to win 3 out of 4 of their games, and they were only separated by 13 shots. Our second placed team today were “Team Bravo”, Joyce Cheney, Les & Sheila Bartholomew, who were awarded with our silver medals.
Our gold medal winners, with the Hilary Avis trophy: Gordon, Lesley & Rita
